CURIUM was called in urgently to assess a risk of contamination of an area that had been used for the opening of a concrete block containing chemical and pyrotechnic waste.
After the removal of the pyrotechnical doubt, CURIUM proceeded to check the chemical non-contamination of objects and soils, then to the sorting, packaging and elimination of the wastes. Following the discovery of radioactive waste, CURIUM carried out its characterisation, radiological decontamination operations and the packaging and transport to appropriate waste treatment facilities.
