Within the framework of the project for the dismantling of the former Marie Curie laboratories in Arcueil, CURIUM has defined the methodologies for the characterisation and management of unknown liquid and solid radioactive chemicals stored underground on the site, with a view to defining their management by ANDRA (French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency).
CURIUM's mission resulted in an inventory and a characterization / management protocol validated by ANDRA.
For this purpose, CURIUM has set up an on-site laboratory for characterization and pre-treatment, under nuclear ventilation. This operation required the use of air-supplied SCBAs.
