During maintenance shutdowns or periodic inspections required by environmental regulations, CURIUM is commissioned by users of anhydrous ammonia to drain and inertize their installations, which generally contain between 4 and 20 tons of the product. The liquefied phase of the ammonia is transferred with the help of an ATEX compressor following a method tested and proven efficient by CURIUM. The gaseous phase is then recovered, while no effluent is released into the atmosphere. The flow rate is 150 m3/h. This operation considerably limits the quantity of waste produced by generating little or no alkali.
